Toxteth Royal Hunting Park
The Food Version of Our History...

When King John created the town of Liverpool he also established his Royal Hunting Park and Forest in Toxteth. The Royal Hunting Park is the area bounded historically by Upper Parliament Street, Smithdown Road, Ullet Road and along the Waterfront in the area now known as Grafton Street. The park was essentially the royal deepfreeze for his visiting courtiers and also their entertainment. Even if the town was starving the king guaranteed his courtiers a good supply of food.
