Hunt Royale
HUNT ROYALE
Look into the past and journey into the future

AN EXPLORATION BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY TODAY
on November 30th started from Princes Park main gates Princes Avenue

Toxteth retains its name but The Royal hunting park is long gone the area was bounded by Upper Parliament Street, Lodge Lane, Ullet Road and along the cliff by the Mersey now known as Grafton Street. Tackling this route today one might expect to find a concrete jungle but investigate further and you may get one or two surprises.

There are no deer in Toxteth anymore so we must pretend. A gang of time travellers chased Oh Dears through Liverpools oldest historic landscape they visited the nine locations on a map of the hunting park the hunters snapped them the photos are from the hunters Bob, Fran, John and Tomke. We have distributed 6,000 maps to local schools community groups and shops.
After the event we received several phone calls and emails from people reporting that they did the route from home searching for oh dear. Just like any hunt some spotted them and others did not but it was a lovely day and all ages had a good time.

"We did the whole route, took till dark, and I was the only Oh Dear I saw "

"I have lived here for years and never been to most of these places"

"We come from Calderstones, Princes park is a lovely spot for a picnic"

"The dingle must have been a lovely stream"

"I will wear my antlers in to work tomorrow and tell everyone"

"We went wrong and got to lark lane so we told people what we were doing"

"I am not chasing round today but I will keep the map"
