The Breath of Life
The highs and lows of a breathable city
Discovering the lungs of Liverpools underwater tunnels, we went inside the ventilation chimneys and explored the hidden mechanisms that keep the tunnels breathing. We saw the great fans that kept the air flowing, heard the rushing traffic through the tunnels and touched the resulting dirt that settled as a consequence of this. Following this we had a lighter than air experience when we released helium balloons over the Mersey and sipped wine as the sun set.
"With all the new building going on in the city, it's really important to excavate the old spaces of Liverpool. Today was really interesting"
"I hope to attend more events with the pool project"
"This was scary, but interesting"
