Our journey deep into the cities bones, history and anatomy and picnic in paradise
The group met at the bus station and went in two groups looking around the edge of the paradise site finally arriving on the roof of the Grosvenor Lord Street offices for a picnic with an amizing overview of the turmoil on the earth below us, participants were welcomed to the roof top by Stan the harpist and carried on making new friends and sharing sandwiches and fruit. We went away with pieces of the rock from below the castle, currently revealed for the last time for maybe 300 years, the tenure that the Grosvenor people will have on the site.
'people take bits of the Berlin wall away from Berlin, I am thrilled to have a bit of rock from the castle cliff.'
'What I think is so interesting is that people think of Paradise as a completely innocent place, pure bliss, without rules. Which as we know was not the case. Eat the apple, break the rule and get booted out. Having said nothing about Lilith, Adams less subservient first wife.'
'I think a series of 'specialist' picnics might be interesting. A marketeer talking about Grosvenors use of white and the dissolution of Paradise into L1. A member of Muslim Community on the relationship between hoodies and burkhas.'
'I had no idea the ground level used to be so far below what I thought was ground level.'
'Why are they building so many new places when in the beautiful old buildings everything over the first floor seems to be empty?'
