Urban Strawberry Lunch
St Lukes Ruined Church, Leece St, 4th May 2007
As the picnic started St Lukes bells rang, but in true Urban Strawberry Lunch fashion the sound came from old wheel rims being played in the churchs tower! What a welcome
We set up with our new flyers promoting our sustainable food series being held down with freshly grown chinese salad leaves, to highlight the issue of Can we sustain ourselves whilst living in a city?
As people were drawn into the beautiful space feeling surprised by the opportunity to go inside, we chatted to them and encouraged them to use our picnic space to eat their lunch (and eat some fresh soda bread and salad!)
Many people came, from all walks of life students, tourists, ex-junkies, artists, musicians, local shopkeepers... The day was indeed a fruitful collaboration and it ended all too soon. A relaxed picnic, with the opportunity to spread our message of Urban Picnicking.
St Lukes will be open with Urban Strawberry Lunch exhibition of pictures from Liverpool in the Blitz and paintings of St Lukes 12pm-2pm, Monday -Friday, for more information www.myspace.com/lunchatstlukes
